Novel coronavirus has been launched by manufacturers such as Ford, Jaguar Land Rover and Honda to help manufacture medical devices including ventilators, according to the European Auto News website.

Jaguar Land Rover confirmed that as part of the negotiations with the government, the government has approached it to seek the company’s assistance in the production of the ventilator.

“As a British company, at this unprecedented moment, we will naturally do our best to support our community,” a company spokesman told eurocar news

Ford said it was assessing the situation, with the US carmaker running two engine plants in the UK and producing nearly 1.1 million engines in 2019. One of the two plants is in Bridgend, Wales, which will close this year.

Honda, which last year produced nearly 110000 cars at its plant in Swindon, said the government had asked it to explore the feasibility of making a ventilator. Peugeot Citroen’s Vauxhall was also asked to help.

It is not clear how a car manufacturer can turn to professional medical equipment, which international components are needed and what kind of certification is needed.

One of the options facing the UK government is to adopt the defence industry rules, which are applicable to ordering certain factories to produce government required products in accordance with the design. British industry has the capacity to do this, but it is unlikely to produce the necessary electronic components.

Robert Harrison, a professor of automation systems at Warwick University in Central England, said in an interview that it could take months for an engineering company to build a ventilator.

“They will have to improve the efficiency of the production line and train workers to assemble and test products,” he said He also pointed out that rapid procurement of components such as electronic components, valves and air turbines could be difficult.

Ventilator is a kind of complex equipment. “In order for patients to survive, it’s critical that these devices work properly because they’re vital to life,” said Robert Harrison

Novel coronavirus carriers can be used to maintain life when they are breathing difficulties in many countries.

35 novel coronavirus deaths and 1372 cases have been reported in the UK. They have adopted different ways from other European countries, which have implemented strict blockade measures to try to slow down the spread of the disease.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will seek support from manufacturers to produce “basic medical equipment” for national health services, a Downing Street Office spokesman said in an interview.

Novel coronavirus novel coronavirus said: “the prime minister will emphasize the important role of British manufacturers in the prevention of the widespread spread of the new coronavirus and urge them to step up efforts to support the nationwide efforts to fight the new coronavirus epidemic.”
